Your game is your business
Anchor never collects your bowling data. Your games, scores, notes, and photos stay on your device and in your own private iCloud — never on our servers. There are no accounts and nothing to sign into. The only information we collect is a small number of anonymous app-usage events, which help us improve the app and are never linked to you.
What this means for you
- On your device and in your private iCloud. Your games, statistics, and any keepsake photos are stored on your device. If you use iCloud, they are also backed up and synced through your own private iCloud account, managed by Apple. We never receive them, and they are never stored on our servers.
- No account, ever. There is no sign-up and no login. You open the app and start scoring — the app works fully offline.
- Anonymous usage only. We count a small number of anonymous app events — for example, that a feature was opened or a game was added — to help us improve Anchor. These are never linked to you and never include your scores, names, leagues, or photos.
- No tracking, no ads. Anchor does not track you across other apps or websites, shows no ads, and never sells your data.
- Yours to take with you. Export your games and stats to a CSV spreadsheet or a PDF report anytime.
What we collect — and what we never collect
What we collect: Anonymous usage data only (product interaction) — a small set of counters such as an app open, a feature being used, or a game being added. This is gathered through a privacy-focused analytics service (TelemetryDeck), is not linked to your identity, and is not used to track you. In App Store terms, this is Usage Data that is Not Linked to You.
What we never collect:
- Personal information (name, email, phone number)
- Your bowling data (scores, games, leagues, bowler names, ball arsenal, notes)
- Your photos (the “Snap the result” keepsake stays on your device)
- Precise location
- Advertising identifiers or cross-app tracking data
Camera & photos
Anchor’s optional “Snap the result” feature uses your camera to attach a photo of the lane scoreboard to a finished game as a keepsake. The photo is saved only with your game (on your device and your private iCloud) and is never uploaded to us. Anchor uses the camera only when you choose to take a photo, and does not read your photo library.
iCloud sync
If you have iCloud enabled, Anchor backs up and syncs your data across your own devices using Apple’s iCloud (CloudKit) in your private database. This data lives in your personal Apple account, governed by Apple’s Privacy Policy. The developer has no access to it. If you prefer to keep data only on your device, you can turn iCloud sync off in the app’s settings.
Your data, your control
Because your bowling data stays with you, you remain in complete control:
- Export your data anytime using the app’s CSV export and PDF reports
- Delete all local data by deleting the app; remove synced data by managing Anchor in your iCloud settings
- No one else has access to your games or statistics
- Your data cannot be exposed by a breach of our servers, because we hold none of it
Children’s privacy
Anchor is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Third-party services
Anchor uses Apple’s iCloud for your private backup and sync, and TelemetryDeck for anonymous usage analytics. It integrates with no advertising networks and no other third-party services. It does not use cookies or advertising identifiers.
Changes to this policy
Any changes to this privacy policy will be updated on this page and, where relevant, in the app. Our core commitment — never collecting your bowling data — will not change.
