Our Commitment to Your Privacy
Tax Ready respects your privacy and keeps your financial data completely private.
Your expense records, receipts, and financial information belong entirely to you. Tax Ready is built with privacy-first principles—all data stored locally on your device, with optional iCloud sync through Apple's secure servers and App Usage data collected only to improve the app experience.
What This Means for You
- Local Storage First: All expenses, receipts, and attachments are stored locally on your device using CoreData.
- Optional iCloud Sync: Pro users can enable iCloud sync to access data across devices. This sync goes through Apple's secure servers, not ours.
- No Third-Party Access: We never see, access, or store your expense data. Your financial information never touches our servers.
- Minimal Analytics and No Tracking: Tax Ready does not include ad networks, or tracking tools of any kind. With your permission, we collect minimal app usage data solely to improve the app experience.
- No Data Sharing: We do not sell, rent, or share your data with any third parties, period.
Data Collection
Minimal Data Collection (Stays on Device). Tax Ready only stores expense tracking data:
- Expense amounts, dates, and categories
- Merchant names and notes
- Receipt photos and attachments (stored locally or in your iCloud)
- Deductible percentages
- App settings and preferences
- Pro subscription status (via StoreKit)
We do NOT collect or store:
- Personal identifying information
- Bank account or credit card information
- Device identifiers or location data
- Usage analytics or app behavior data (except minimal app usage data collected with your permission)
- Network activity or crash reports
- Any data outside of your expense records
What we collect for app analytics (with your permission) is anonymous and aggregated, used solely to improve app performance and user experience.
- Your onboarding choiches (such as your preferences and initial setup choices). This helps us understand who actually using our app and how well our onboarding process is working.
- Feature usage (such as adding an expense or exporting a report or evidence pack or interacting with the inbox). This is to understand which features are most useful to you. We never collect the actual data you enter, just the fact that you used the feature.
- Paywall interactions (whether you subscribe or not after opening the paywall). This is to understand conversion rates and improve the subscription experience.
- Widget interactions (such as adding or removing widgets or opening the app by tapping the widgets). This is to understand which features are most useful to you.
How We Store Your Data
Local Storage: All expense data is stored on your device using CoreData, Apple's local database framework. This data remains on your device and is never transmitted to our servers.
iCloud Sync (Pro Feature): Pro users can optionally enable iCloud sync. When enabled, your expense data syncs through Apple's CloudKit framework to your personal iCloud account. We do not have access to this data—it's encrypted and managed by Apple.
Receipt Attachments: Photos and PDFs are stored locally or in your iCloud Drive (if sync is enabled). We never upload attachments to our servers.
App Usage Data: Any app usage data collected (with your permission) is stored anonymously and securely, used only for improving the app experience.
Your Data, Your Control
- All locally stored data is deleted when you uninstall the app.
- You can edit or delete individual expenses at any time.
- You can export all expenses and receipts via the Evidence Pack feature (Pro).
- You control iCloud sync—enable or disable it anytime in Settings.
- No one—including the developer—has access to your expense records or receipts.
- Your data is yours. We don't own it, access it, or use it in any way.
- You can optionally opt in or out of app analytics data collection in Settings.
Third-Party Services
Tax Ready integrates only with Apple's native frameworks:
- CoreData: Local database for storing expense records
- CloudKit: Optional iCloud sync (Pro feature only)
- StoreKit: In-app purchases and subscription management
- PhotosKit: Access to photo library for receipt capture
- Camera: Taking photos of receipts
- Files: Exporting Evidence Packs
No external SDKs, advertising networks, analytics tools, AI services, or third-party integrations are used.
Data Security
Tax Ready takes your financial privacy seriously. All data is stored using Apple's secure CoreData framework. iCloud sync (when enabled) uses Apple's CloudKit with end-to-end encryption. We follow iOS security best practices to protect your information from unauthorized access. Optional app usage data is anonymized and securely stored.
Children's Privacy
Tax Ready is intended for adults managing business or personal expenses. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
Changes to This Policy
Any updates to this Privacy Policy will be posted on this page. Substantial changes will be clearly announced within the app prior to taking effect.
